This is not a tidy little number, and you may have voted for this belter on instagram as it beat the other contender 77% to 23%.

Our Pistachio Snickers Kneemelter Pie Slice starts with a dense, dark chocolate brownie crust, topped with a layer of gloriously gooey miso caramel (the funky saltiness brings out the glorious flavour of the pistachio) and a generous scatter of roasted pistachios for crunch. Above that sits a thick cloud of pistachio whipped nougat, all finished with a deep layer of chocolate ganache and a final dusting of cocoa and chopped pistachios.

Think rich chocolate, salty-sweet caramel, nutty pistachio and soft whipped nougat, all stacked into one over-the-top dessert slice that leans more towards hot pudding energy than polite traybake.

And yes, this one can get messy.

That is part of the point.

The caramel can ooze, the layers can soften, and if you really want to push it to its limits, dare yourself to give it a few seconds in the microwave until it reaches the point of near collapse. Warm, molten, slightly outrageous and almost impossible to eat with any dignity. Exactly as it should be.

Eat it straight from the box if you must, or warm gently until the ganache softens, the caramel starts to slump and the whole thing turns into a hot, fudgy, pistachio-laced Kneemelter moment.
